TMJ Disorder

Do you have symptoms of TMJ Jaw disorder? TMJ stands for the temporomandibular joint of the jaw. The disorder is actually called TMD, yet is commonly referred to as TMJ Jaw disorder.

Some of the causes of TMJ are:

  • Malocclusion - When the teeth do not correctly close together, there may be a great deal of pressure put on the jaw bones and muscles and create problem.
  • Trauma - Injuries from car accidents, falls or fights can cause damage to the joints and develop into a disorder after a period of time.
  • Emotional Stressors - When under stress or tension some persons may chew or clench their teeth with a large amount of pressure and thereby develop problems.
